The Union Congregational Church at 309 James Street invites worshippers to join the World Wide observance of the Holy Communion. Sunday duties include 9:45 A. M. Sunday School led by Walter Haag, 10:00 A. M. Junior Church with a special program, and 11:00 A. M. worship with a sermon by Minister Wm. Harper.
The Church of the Nazarene at West Lerdo and Ricker Orvall presents morning worship at 11:00 with Pastor Seago delivering a sermon. Sunday School at 9:45 led by J. T. Badgett, and an 7:30 evening evangelistic service with inspirational singing. World Communion Sunday observed October 6.
The First Church of Christ Scientist in Boston invites worship at 11 A M on Sundays and 8 P M on the first Wednesday, with Sunday School at 10 A M. Bible readings from I John and Luke guide services including Mary Baker Eddy quotes and a church school at 10 A M led by Peter J. Gershing. Evening services feature Bible messages and Young Peoples Endeavor with General Christian Endeavor on the first Sunday at 7 30.
The First Baptist Church Lerdo Highway invites all to Dedication Day on October 6 marking the completion of a church addition. Morning, afternoon, and evening services feature sermons by Rev. Howard McKee, Dr. Donald Davis, and Rev. Ernest Anderson with The Veterans Quartet from Westmont College performing in each service.
Mr and Mrs Lee Thomas and Mr and Mrs Jack Hare hosted a birthday dinner Monday evening at the Witcher home to surprise Mrs Hanley Witcher.
The Shafter Ministerial Association met at Rev. and Mrs. Bartel’s home. Mrs. C. F. Ummel reported on the Released Time Religious Education school with 665 attendances registered in September, a record ahead of last year, and a fuller Republic publication planned soon.
Marvin Lane and family will begin building a new home this week and plan to move to Shafter upon completion. Mrs. Lane is the daughter of Mr and Mrs Morial Thornberg of Wasco.
