Community lunch reservations and donations policy
Reservations must be made one day in advance. Lunch is served at 11:45 a.m. at Shafter and Wasco sites. Suggested donations are 1.50 for senior adults 60 and over and their spouse, 4.50 for guests under 60. Guests without reservations may be served if possible.

County Event Seeks Teams For Community Fitness Day
County event set for Friday October 3 from 9 a.m. to 1 30 p.m. at Rosewood Retirement Community sponsored by Kern County Activities Directors Association. Open to churches nursing facilities retirement communities and other groups with online or phone registration. Also an eight hour driver refresher course at Walker Senior Center October 10 registration via AARP president Phylis Branch. Meals listed for several dates in October.

Wanda Cronian 1936 2008 Shafter Nurse Aid Memorial
Wanda Lee Cronian born January 27 1936 in Coweta Oklahoma moved to California in 1942 and lived 67 years. She worked as a nurses aid at Shafter Convalescent Hospital for 30 years and is survived by Oliver Cronian James Cronian and Joanie Cronian. A service was held last Wednesday at Shafter Cemetery with Minister Davis Rose officiating.
