School board reviews improved CAP scores and recognitions

Shafter Building Permits Quadruple October 1990 Figures
Shafter's October 1990 building permit valuation more than doubles October 1989 at 697 086 with breakdowns of 618 589 for new residences 77 997 for residence remodeling and 500 for commercial remodeling. November totals reach 87 520 with 21 907 for residence remodeling 35 613 for new commercial and 3 000 for commercial remodeling. Countywide October 1990 permits total 85 843 752 up from 77 044 629 last year and year to date shows a 9 percent rise over 1989, signaling a strong Kern County economy per Board of Trade manager Ann Gutcher.
