Services Held For Victim Of Heart Attack
The Rev. Wm. J. Bestwater the Rev. K. S. Nefffeld of Shafter and the Rev. N. N. Hiebert of Salem Oregon conducted funeral services for Aaron G. Sawatzky who died suddenly of a heart attack at age 64. He lived in Shafter a year after a long migration from South Russia and Canada and had a Mennonite Brethren faith. He married Elizabeth V. Nielsen in 1891 and leaves a widow two sons six daughters seventeen grandchildren a sister six brothers and many friends with three sons and one daughter predeceasing him.

Simon Peters In Turlock Auto Accident
The coroner’s jury ruled Simon Peters of Shafter blameless in a collision at Highway 99 and Main Street in Turlock that killed an elderly man named Kittle. The accident occurred Monday at 7 p.m. and was witnessed by Turlock’s chief of police. Peters, driving a potato laden truck, halted within six feet of the victim who died from shock per physicians. Peters remained in Turlock after the inquest to assist relatives while his daughter Alice drove his car home.

Prison Board Kidnappers To Be Hanged
Joseph Kristy and Alexander MacKay will join Rudolph Straight in death after the Supreme Court refused a rehearing. They were involved in a kidnaping that targeted the prison parole board at San Quentin in January. Straight was shot dead during the escape attempt.

Fire damages Camp West and Lowe Ginning Co warehouse
A blaze destroyed the Camp West and Lowe Ginning Co warehouse in Shafter on Tuesday evening, causing about 24 000 dollars in damage. About 200 tons of Blue Label cotton seed and six to seven thousand new cotton bags were lost along with loading trucks and a potato grader. Firefighters from Shafter and two forest service units aided by the California Limited train prevented spread to the gin and offices. The seed loss hits local growers hard, with replacement unlikely this season.
