Shafter Council Sets Uniform Building Code Adherence
City leaders Monday decided to require uniform building code standards for a proposed Central Avenue Kern Street church by L N Coleman. Plans will be returned to the builder with code compliance as a condition for a permit. The plan’s layout raises sewage and water concerns due to property grain. The planning commission may review before a final decision. Lions Club Christmas trees on an empty Central Kern lot were approved for charitable proceeds. Drainage and bike racks downtown also drew attention as officials seek remedies and safety education tie‑ins.
