Turkeys Awarded At Wittenberg Grand Opening

At the Santa Fe and Tulare Avenue Wittenberg Poultry and Fish Market grand opening two Thanksgiving Turkeys were awarded. Numbers 38 and 1960 won for Friday and Saturday drawings. winners not present may pick up their birds this week. Arnold Wittenberg raises his own fowl at a nearby Shafter farm.

Lee Grabel Show Helps Shafter Park Rest-Room Fund

The Shafter 20-30 Club will donate all proceeds from the December 6 Lee Grabel magic show at Shafter High School gym to the City Park rest-room fund. Fire Department Answers Rio Bravo School Cotton Blaze

The County Fire Department battled a Saturday blaze at Rio Bravo School where seven bales of cotton on a transport truck caught fire. Firefighters extinguished most of the flames, saving roughly 40 percent of the cotton and limiting damage to the truck owned by Mr. California.

Led by Bob Matthias Tulare's Redskins defeated Delano 14 to 0 in a playoff game to win the Tulare Kings county big schools league championship. Correction on Cotton Gin Output in Shafter Area

A correction states S. A. Camp Gins in Shafter ginned 6000 bales, all at Shafter. Additional S. A. Camp Gins in Wasco, Rosedale, and McFarland have ginned over 19,000 bales, bringing the four gins total to over 25,000 bales to date.

Shafter Future Farmers Head to Great Western Stock Show

A group of 10 Future Farmers from Shafter will leave at 7 am with 40 head of cattle to compete in the Great Western Livestock Show in Los Angeles. Supervising is Holger Hansen, with judging next weekend and post show cattle sales planned at the Hotel Figueroa.
