Lerdo School: small but special amid industry and Kern Homes
Lerdo School sits east on Lerdo Highway as a tidy green stucco building with one bus and a long serving custodian. Ninety seven percent of its 127 students live at Kern Homes, mostly Spanish speaking families, yet most also speak English. Principal Dick Moon seeks a foundation to fund field trips and resources, while teachers Arlene Fox and Geraldine Dansby praise student smiles, parent turnout, and unique combined classes from kindergarten through eighth grade.
