Hugh Carpenter, author and chef, will host free Chinese cooking demonstrations at the Shafter office of Santa Barbara Savings and Loan, with 10 am and 2 pm shows. Recipes include Lion's Head meatball, Mandarin Cucumber Soup, Walnut Chicken, Hot Garlic Eggplant, Ginger Shrimp, and Honey Apples.
