Woman Repairs Damages With Hose Fight Fire
A North Shafter California woman fought a house fire with a garden hose Tuesday and halved the damage. Mrs W R Fronter of Cabin 629 grabbed the hose when flames and smoke erupted from the home and kept the blaze under control until county firefighters arrived. The fire likely started from a trash can and may have been set by children. Loss was about 250 to the house and 200 to personal property. Firefighters saved an equal amount. Earlier, a Smith's Corner garage repair shop owned by Ernest Richardson burned, causing about 2200 in damage due to wiring. A cotton fire in a trailer owned by Morris Howze caused 85 damage.
