County construction shifts into high gear in September
Kern County builders posted a sharp rise in September permit values led by Bakersfield and unincorporated areas. The month total reached 48.18 million, up from 34.52 million in September 1999, boosting year to date permit valuation to 411.58 million. Commercial projects surged to 12.04 million while residential work stayed strong at 31.13 million.
