Shafter Kiwanis parade brings Halloween fest to Manuel Park
The Shafter Kiwanis Club sponsored a Halloween parade and festival at Manuel Park on Halloween night. Citizens lined the street to watch costumed children from ages three and under lead the march, followed by the Richland Junior High Band, the Shafter Police Explorer program, and the Shafter PAL. Vendors offered cotton candy and games as booths from many local groups filled the park with food and fun.

Woman injured in Kern County house fire
Fire crews responded to a 1000 block of 15 Street Saturday afternoon finding a fully involved residence. An elderly woman suffered cuts and was taken to a local hospital. Other nearby structures were spared and one driveway vehicle was damaged. Fire remains under investigation with a cause to be released later.

Drug arrests after multiple Wasco warrants and seizures
Bakersfield Police Vice Narcotics and Drug Enforcement Agents served warrants in the 1100 block of Iris Street Wasco and on White Lane and View Crest Drive. Students shadow city government in hands on learning
