Youth Lock-In Promotes Alcohol Free Fun in Shafter
In Shafter, about 40 to 50 youths ages 10 to 18 stayed up all night at Richland School Activity Center for an alcohol and drug free lock-in. Sponsored by Richland School District and the City of Shafter, with Branch Root directing youth activities and the Youth Council advisor. Volunteers, staff, and mentors supported games, movies, reading, and snacks under parental consent. The Richland Junior High Trojan Band also won first place at a West High School competition, attributed to strong leadership by Band Director Mr. Gross.
