City switches to Crown Life insurance saving funds
City of Shafter votes unanimously to adopt Crown Life Insurance for its city plan, replacing Blue Shield after a local bid. Crown Life charges 83 000 while Blue Shield would be 131 000, yielding a 36 000 cash flow advantage. potential self funded savings for dental 10 000 and medical 15 000 could lower Blue Shield costs further, but Crown Life adds 12 000 for council members coverage. Total projected cost with Crown Life remains 95 000, still leaving an overall annual saving of 11 000. council members questions remain on coverage and bid timing.
