UC Professor Firing Linked to Health Leader Critique
Health official Marston Garrard told the Wednesday Afternoon Club that UC professors were ousted over an oath used as disciplinary action rather than loyalty. He argued the oath was a ruse to deter an university investigation led by Sen. Tenney, and urged educators to govern themselves as physicians do. Members debated the firing and supported freedom of expression and learning, noting medical aid and early screening advances for students.
