Layby herbicide note for cotton and grower guidance
Six herbicides are registered for layby use on cotton including Treflan 5 EC and Prowl 4 EC with cautions on timing and rate. Treflan must be applied at max label rates with good mixing and irrigation, and layby cultivation helps control annual grasses and many broadleaf weeds. Palmer amaranth and grassy weed risks exist if skips occur, and improper irrigation can reduce yields. The piece also shifts to a local weightlifting note about Mark Self lifting 345 lbs at Bakersfield College.
