Railroads seek six daily trains through San Joaquin Valley
Santa Fe and Southern Pacific filed with the California Public Utilities Commission to cut San Joaquin Valley passenger service from ten to six daily trains. The plan removes Santa Fe daytime trains No. 60 and 63 from the Bay Area to Bakersfield and vice versa and eliminates SP overnight Owl trains through the valley. Remaining services include Coast Route overnight and Daylight trains, with tickets interchangeable and timetables available.
