Major Reservoirs Fail to Fill in Central Valley Report

A Bureau of Reclamation assessment shows all major Central Valley projects Trinity Shasta Folsom and Millerton are unlikely to fill this season despite April runoff. Folsom and Shasta saw severe rainfall shortfalls 26 and 8 percent of normal. Delta inflows are at a multi-year low, salt water intrusion advances, yet carryover facility forecasts still meet Sacramento Valley and Delta Class 1 needs while Class 2 surplus deliveries drop to ten percent. Millerton storage rose to 341 000 acre feet as diversions declined, and May outlook mirrors April with ample Class 1 water but constrained Class 2 supplies.
