Breanna Fowler wins Best Actress at PEAAK awards
Shafter High senior Breanna Fowler, active in theater since middle school, is named Best Actress by PEAAK for KHSD activities. She starred as Emily Webb in Our Town, represented Shafter at the California State Thespian Festival, and earned Best Student Director at CSUB Spotlight Festival. She plans to pursue theater behind the scenes or on stage, with a future radiology career.

Rotary keeps busy at Shafter club events
The Shafter Rotary Club welcomed Holly Love-Mayer as a Paul Harris Fellow, making the club 100 percent Fellows. Ralph Gonzales spoke on recent leagues and upcoming programs to keep children active. The club awarded the Shafter Stingray Club a donation, represented by Nicole Morris, while Jessica Vasquez received honors for RYLA participation. Vicente Lara was not in attendance but was honored.

Effective May 1 2012 policy changes apply to Shafter Scenes submissions for free events running two weeks. Fundraisers must publish a minimum ad in one issue to qualify for two weeks. Memorial Day closure and submission deadline info given. Local events include Street Faire June 14 Westside Mud Volleyball June 2 and Wasco Memorial Day BBQ May 28 with details and contact numbers.
