Richland Names Kevin Monsma Assistant Superintendent
Richland School District appoints Kevin Monsma a Bakersfield resident as Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction. Monsma, former Delano Union Elementary District director of special projects, has taught at CSUB and Point Loma Nazarene University while serving as adjunct professor.

Shafter Lions to donate 13000 for veterans memorial
Rich Ames of the Shafter Lions Club announced at a club dinner that the group will donate 13000 to build a veterans memorial at the cemetery. Doc Kaufman Construction of Wasco will build the three cement walls to hold engraved names for about 930 veterans. Additional funding of 6800 from community donors covers engraving. landscaping and a possible endowment fund are sought to finish the project. Donations accepted at the Shafter Chamber of Commerce.

Sonic to Begin Drive-In Project in Mid June
