Local Church Hosts Calvary of Delano Communion Gift
The newly organized Calvary of Delano gathered with two former Shafter family members for a May 3 potluck at Mank as the Shafter church provided homemade ice cream and cakes. The highlight was a communion set presented as a gift from the Shafter church, accepted by Edson, Delano church moderator, who thanked the Shafter congregation.

Highway Funds Split Among State, Counties, Cities
State Controller Alan Cranston reports total highway related distributions at 26.0 million. About 17.98 million goes to the State Highway Fund, 6.50 million to counties, 2.52 million to cities. County share stood at 144,985. The figures reflect March transfers and April totals versus 1958, with gasoline and other taxes contributing to the pool.
