Shafter Warehouse Co. Hardware Store Modernized
Dependable Business Concerns of Shafter highlights the Shafter Warehouse Co. at 352 Central Ave close to Santa Fe Way. Store manager Lawrence Kattenhorn, book keeper Freda Mettler, clerk Lee Willoughby, and temporary clerk Bonnie Willoughby are pictured. Owner W. H. Hitchcock has run the shop since its 1915 founding, with a 32 year tenure for Kattenhorn as manager. The remodel added a new front plate glass facade and interior reorganization. The store features farm supplies, seed and feed, hardware, paint, home appliances, dishes, sporting goods, and fishing gear.
