Shafter Celebrates Cinco de Mayo Parade and Park Celebration
Shafter hosted a big Cinco de Mayo festival with a parade led by Grand Marshal Mary Chivera. The event featured classic cars, WWII vehicles, a Shafter High marching band, a PAL program, boxing exhibitions, equestrian displays, mariachi bands, dance troupes, and family-friendly rides at Manuel Park.

WWII B-17 Sentimental Journey Wing Display at Minter Field
The Commemorative Air Force Arizona Wing hosts May 24 to 26 at Minter Field Airport an exhibit featuring the WWII B 17 Flying Fortress Sentimental Journey. The plane, famed for Betty Grable artwork, is a key flying museum piece among about five B 17s still airworthy worldwide. Reven ue rides and static displays accompany a 28 000 square foot hangar of aviation artifacts.
