Proposed Amtrak San Joaquin schedule reshaped for better service

California State Transportation Director Adriana Gianturco urged Amtrak on April 13 to reschedule the San Joaquin route between Bakersfield and San Francisco to boost convenience and ridership. The plan would shift departures to 6 05 a m from Bakersfield and 5 30 p m from San Francisco, with corresponding arrival times.

California gasoline usage rises in February 1979

California fuel distribution for February 1979 exceeds 941 million gallons, 9.0 percent above February 1978 but 2.4 percent below January 1979. Ernest J. Cronenburg Jr of the State Board of Equalization notes January February combined gallons up 7.6 percent year over year and February revenues surpass $65.92 million, up $5.46 million from February 1978 and $8.36 million from January.
