R L Dye was elected president of the Shafter Business Men's Association for the coming year at a directors meeting after the monthly session at the Legion hall. Legion Auxiliary officer elections postponed amid small turnout
The annual election of officers for the local American Legion Auxiliary was postponed due to low attendance caused by several countertractions. A new meeting date is to be fixed. Attendees enjoyed a social evening and discussed packing the annual Memorial Day box for the Veterans' hospital in West Los Angeles.

First Kern county potato carload shipped from Shafter
The first carload of potatoes from Kern county for 1935 rolled out of Shafter last Friday produced on Hoagland ranch at Edison. Kirschmen of Shafter grew them as log shipments depart Shafter daily with carrots expected between the 15th and 20th. Buyers are arriving and Shafter nears harvest season as town grows like a boom mining camp.

Migratory Labor Camp Planned in Kern County
SERA division of rural rehabilitation plans a migratory labor camp in Kern County with a $10 000 appropriation. The Shafter site may be taken over, improving shelter and sanitary conditions for resident and migratory families.
