A new Kern County Clean Air Coalition unites health agencies and residents to advocate on air quality and meet federal Clean Air Act standards. County landfills extend hours for May to August
Kern County Public Works Director L Dale Mills announced that all county landfills will stay open one hour later from May 1 1987 due to longer daylight. Ridgecrest Landfill will operate 8 am to 7 pm daily May through August for non hazardous waste disposal with no user fees. It is illegal to transport refuse to landfills unless it is fully covered to prevent litter. Public cooperation will reduce highway litter.
