PG&E Battles 1982 83 Winter Storms Repair Costs Rise
Pacific Gas and Electric crews worked by boat helicopter four wheel drive and on foot against wind rain mud and snow during the severe storms. Nearly 3,000 PG&E employees helped restore service as transformers and poles were damaged by lightning winds landslides and toppled towers. End February damages estimated at 9.5 million with 20 million including 1982 storms. December 22 storm knocked out intertie to Northwest affecting 2.5 million customers. 9 towers near Tracy fell and disrupted 2.8 GW. Crews labored around clock through holidays to restore power and a reliable link to Northwest hydro.

La Rosa Chapter 146 Holds April 25 Meeting
A stated meeting of La Rosa Chapter No. 146 of the Order of Eastern Star was held Monday April 25 at Wasco Masonic Temple with Worthy Matron Mildred Wildharber PM and Worthy Patron Leonard Duck PP presiding. Irvin Barr PP commented on Public Schools Week as past matrons and patrons were honored along with 50 year members Faye Barr Frances Cazaly Margaret Hess and Irvin Barr. Afterward refreshments were served by Bobbye Ratzlaff Alma Fuller Rita Jacobsen and Effie Ducky Bouquets of roses from Mrs Jacobsen’s garden decorated tables.
