Youth for Christ expands to Shafter Junior High students
A newly formed Youth for Christ Jr. Varsity group has grown in Shafter since January with about .75 junior high students attending twice monthly meetings at the Veterans Hall. The group, alongside Campus Life, won countywide attendance awards and celebrated at Fat Albert's Birthday Party at Roller Towne in Bak. About 300 youths attended. A Work-a-thon Saturday, led by City Administrator August Caires, John Gibson, and Veil Helter, raised funds for town beautification through painting and gardening. Meetings include activities, discussion, spiritual wrap-up, and refreshments. The Jr. Varsity plans two more meetings on May 10 and May 24 at 3:15 p.m.
