Florez bill advances to reactivate Kern Power Plant
Assemblyman Dean Florez led a unanimous 21-0 Appropriations vote to allow North American Power Group to buy the old Kern Power Plant from PG&E and restart it by summer. The plan, AB63X, seeks an exemption as the facility is non operational, with North American claiming an 180 megawatt revival. AB880 also clears a Transportation panel, targeting stricter mental fitness checks for commercial drivers and legal immunity for compliant firms.
