10 Oclock Mail Dispatch Announced Here
A 10 oclock evening mail dispatch from the Shafter office was announced by Postmaster Lois L Berry starting at 10:15 pm. The service aims to accommodate produce concerns and business houses during potato season and will continue as long as there is demand through the summer months. Previously, January mail used the Santa Fe depot unofficial box, which was withdrawn last December. Night delivery to trains has been handled via roving post for the nine oclock dispatch and is expected to rise with potato season volume.
