Rezoning Downtown Sparks Sonic Development Plan and Housing Expansion
The city council rezoned Downtown property to General Commercial enabling Sonic to proceed with a build. A prospective tenant is eyed for half the new structure, with a three to four month completion estimate. A General Plan Amendment reclassifies 9.79 acres from Very Low Density to Low Density Residential and converts 29.37 acres to R-1 single family lots for about 123 homes. A nearby 10 acre site south of Lerdo may host a second housing project.
