Mrs Dale Morris Guest of Honor at Layette Shower
Mrs Dale Morris was the guest of honor at a layette shower held at the Center building North Labor Camp. Hostesses were Mrs Lillian Morris and Mrs Sue Braisher with spring flowers and pink carnations for a baby girl or a baby boy. Game prizes went to Mrs O W Smith and Mrs Ben Giesbrecht.

Weekend campers enjoy birding and tours at Carpenteria State Park
Four local families from Shafter and area spent a pleasant weekend at Carpenteria state park. They visited the bird sanctuary observed thousands of seabirds and gulls. also toured Dos Pueblos Ranch famed for carnations and orchids with global flower shipments. They joined Seventh Day Adventist group for a church picnic and visited the Santa Barbara Mission museum before returning via Taft and Newhall to Highway 99.

Mrs. Schellenberg’s parents Mr. and Mrs. Ray Glenn visited from Gary Indiana after a five week Hawaii trip and a California drive. They toured Keen and Lake Isabella with the Schellenbergs and plan to return home around the first of the year. Mrs. Glenn is a past Indiana State Garden Club president and the couple gardens and collects plants for their Keen garden.

American Legion Bi Monthly Meeting Notes and Donations
The Delano American Legion Auxiliary meeting was called off after the president was injured in a car crash. A nominating committee was elected and members prepared bed pads for the Veterans Memorial Hospital in Fresno. Louise Bellows urged residents to donate old sheets for the pads, calling PI 6-2393.
