Gas Mask Drill Taught at Shafter Volunteer Fire Dept
Instruction on using a new all purpose gas mask was given at a meeting of the Shafter Volunteer Fire department at the Shafter Ranger station. Arm Lost in Farm Machinery Accident Near Town
Herman Steele aged 25 lost his right arm in a farm machinery accident on the J. H. Maurer ranch northeast of town Monday morning. The power take off gear engaged while he worked, and he was taken to Kern General hospital by Bob Wardwell. Steele’s condition was reported as good as can be expected yesterday afternoon.

Fire Hits Twin Pepper Liquor Store and Cross-Town Structures
