Superior Oil reports Burner No. 4 in Section 27 north Shafter field completed Tuesday from 11 284 feet with 1430 barrels of oil and 1 797 000 cubic feet of gas via a half inch bean. The site on D O Moore property follows recent Moore No 1 success between Shafter and Greeley fields. Casing at Osborn 1-2 Section 28 reached 11297 feet while Osborn No 1-3 and Pasadena Realty No 2 work progress. Smith No 4 in Section 34 reached 10928 feet as drilling continues in the area.

Wildflower Queen To Be Crowned Here

Army airfield near Shafter starts site work
Work has begun at the United States army airfield east of Shafter with Kern County crews leveling the site. Completion is rushed. buildings will start soon and training planes may fly once leveling ends. Mrs Elizabeth Voth a pioneer resident of the River side area west of Shafter died at her home after living in the community 67 years and in the United States 67 years. Funeral services are set for Saturday at 2 pm at the Seventh Day Adventist church on Lerdo road with Rev L S Melendy officiating. Interment follows in Shafter cemetery. Janzen Funeral home in charge. Survived by two sons Daniel of Oregon Abe of Los Angeles. three daughters Elizabeth Kimberlin Long Beach Anna Voth and Hulda Voth both of Shafter. eight grandchildren. Her husband died six years ago.
