Sewing Groups Knit for War Effort in Bakersfield

Knitting continues at the Legion hall and homes. 164 sweaters and 12 pairs of socks have been produced, with yarn provided by the Red Cross. Uncle Of Shafter Man Dies In South
Funeral services were held at Whittier for J. F. Pfatt aged 88 who died March 11 in a Los Angeles hospital. He was an uncle of Charlie Hitchcock of Shafter and an early property owner in the Shafter area. Pfatt lived in Kern County for about 49 years, worked for Miller and Lux, and served as superintendent of the Rosedale ranch of the Kern County Land Company. He was well known to many longtime Shafter residents.
