Mexican themed potluck brightens Shafter Senior Manor
Va Seniors at Shafter Senior Manor on Pacific Street held a February potluck in the social hall with Mexican dishes from cherished recipes. Jorge Trevino of Wasco sang Mariachi songs for a large crowd, and an early March gathering featured diverse ethnic foods with a tilt toward Chinese. The PAM Corp sponsors the parties, Bonny Fields coordinates, and Bakersfield Senior Sounds perform monthly on the second Wednesday, entertaining seniors with Western flavored tunes. Jess Hargus, Mary Bibb, and Johnnie Mulkey—guitar, violin, and vocals—form the core trio, also entertaining at WC Walker Center during lunch.
