Shafter Police promote Diana Burnett to Lieutenant
Sergeant Diana Burnett rises to Lieutenant with the Shafter Police Department after 22 years in service. She previously served as a correctional officer at Shafter Community Correctional Facility and held roles from detective to Field Training Program officer, plus advisory council work. She is a Sherman Block and POST leadership program alumna and has earned state and national recognitions for child safety work.

City honors Shafter boxers in council commendations
The City of Shafter recognized three boxers at a recent council meeting. Javen Encinas and Jesus Ibarra received resolutions of commendation for statewide and national success, including Javen’s 70 lb state champion and third place at the Silver Gloves Nationals. Jose Rigaldo joined in honored status for Silver Gloves second place finishes.

Distinguished Young Woman of Shafter Crowning Friday
The annual Distinguished Young Woman of Shafter pageant will be held Friday March 21 at the Fred Starrh Performing Arts Center Shafter High School. Eleven contestants compete for the 2015 title with juried interviews academics fitness and talent on stage. The winner advances to state and potentially national competition reflecting Shafter pride and leadership.
