Automobile Smashes Through Market In Highway Mishap
A two car crash on 1201 Central Valley highway at 10:30 a.m. left a market damaged and two injured. Mrs Opal Stephens of Shafter and her passenger a year old daughter received minor injuries while a labor camp resident from North Shafter was treated for cuts. The car driven by Bob Garner crashed into the market after the other vehicle turned left at Meyers Lane. Fire rescue and a doctor treated the injured and police filed a report.

Kenneth Nicol Returns Home From Navy Duty in Japan
Kenneth Nicol arrived home Thursday after 28 months in Japan and plans a 30 day rest at his parents J and Mrs Walter Nicol. He served in the United States Navy in the communications division and spent time at Yokohama Tokyo and Yokosuka with months at Yasami where a large transmitter operated by the Navy was in use. Nicol reports to Treasure Island on March 28 for further assignment.

CVH Extension Sought to South
Irvin Fike of Shafter told the chamber of commerce that the Central Valley Highway Association seeks to extend the route south of Greenfield on Highway 99. The plan calls for improving the road between Rosedale and Stockdale and extending the highway to Greenfield to provide a rapid southern San Joaquin Valley route.
