City council approves universal brush and leaf collection charge
The Shafter council referred a revised ordinance to the Public Safety Committee and set a July 2 meeting for further action. Public Works Director John Guinn outlined six options for the service and the body chose a universal fee. The plan adds 92 cents to monthly water and sewer bills for single family homes, with apartments paying 46 cents.
