Richland-Lerdo district adopts 1991 92 budget deficit
The Richland-Lerdo School District approved the 1991-92 budget despite a roughly 300000 deficit caused by reduced state funding. Expenditures for books and supplies fell 16.86 percent while employee benefits rose 14.47 percent. The board will consider amendments as construction projects progress, including Lerdo portable classrooms and a Lerdo Highway warning light.

Public pool in Shafter faces two year closure for repairs
The Shafter Aquatic Center may stay shut for about six months as a 43 year old pool needs extensive renovation. The SRPD seeks over 800000 dollars, with 383561 hoped from a federal Land and Water Conservation Fund grant.
