Generals honor seniors in open-air football field ceremony
Last Thursday evening the Generals gathered for a high school seniors graduation on the football field. The East side rafters opened to the public and graduates sat facing South for a cooler, breezy event. Student speakers were Vanessa Toews and Justina.

ITTC Intermodal Facility Planned With Rail Link
City moves to fund a new ITTC intermodal facility aimed for June 2004 with a $435,000 design contract to Transystems. Plans include five month study, three month right of way, and five months construction, to enable rail transfers to and from the Port of Los Angeles and Long Beach under a Foreign Trade Zone and state enterprise zone relief.

Shafter Considers Changes to Adult Entertainment Ordinance
At the June 3 meeting the Shafter City Council discussed amending Ordinance No. 554. Court rulings require rewriting Section 11.30 to clarify facilities needing permits or zoning constraints. The May 13 document map and May 13 staff recommendation led to a first reading by title only in the public hearing portion of the council meeting.
