Mr and Mrs J P Hansen and family and Mrs Mary L Reid of Escalon mother of Mrs Hansen joined a large family gathering Sunday at Roeding Park near Fresno. Nearly twenty persons attended with members from Madera Modesto Escalon Sanger and Shafter.

Herb Neuman was unanimously elected student body president of Shafter high school at Friday’s election. Monna Latta was elected vice president. Neither candidate faced opposition. The race centered on who would win the secretary and treasurer posts.
Results show Erma Wentland and Rhoda Kirschenmann with the most votes but no majority for election. They will face a special election today. Esther Hein was elected social chairman Rubena Peters was named girl leader Don Kliewer was selected as boys athletic manager and Leola Kirschenmann as girls athletic manager. Installations occur at the fall semester opening.
Three members of the 1937 Shafter high school graduating class gained life membership in the California Scholastic Federation. Rosie Unruli Gladys Breckenbridge and Elnor Frances Schiermann are the honored students. Schiermann also received a science award.
Life membership in the C S F is earned by six of eight semesters with ten points needed. Three points for A work, one for B, two for extracurriculars. Rosie Unruh active in scholastic and clubs. Gladys Breckenbridge strong in language and academics. Einer Frances Schierlmann excels in math and athletics. Shafter Merchants beat Bakersfield 8 to 6 with Bartel key at plate. lineups listed.
