St and Mrs Leo W Amo depart for Tucson Arizona after a transfer. Lieut Amo has served at Minter Field for three months.
The Agricultural Extension Service reports a War Mobilization directive to boost U S meat supply. It calls for higher beef cattle feeding and slaughter, subsidies to cattle feeders and processors, and pork subsidies, with plans to improve meat distribution and monitor movement under WFA and OPA oversight.
CCC loans will support barley stored on farms or in approved warehouses with rates varying by grade and location. The program runs through December 31 1945 with loans due by April 30 1946. Home butter making guidance covers equipment, pasteurization, churning, and storage, plus a free circular by Margaret Cole. Further notes promote family milk production, water usage for alfalfa, and recent personnel movements including Ben Kliewer’s return to Norfolk Virginia.
Private Wendell H. Tate of Shafter serves as a bridge carpenter in the 106th Engineer Combat Battalion. Under tropical sun and heavy rains, his unit repaired bridges along the Sayre National Highway, building Bailey Bridges totaling 300 feet to span swampy roads and jungle trails damaged by retreating Japanese forces.
The American Legion Auxiliary will hold a meeting on Tuesday, June 12, at the Legion Hall. All members are urged to attend.
