Groundbreaking for Hanford Peaker Plant Aims 90 MW by September
GWF Power Systems began construction of a natural gas fired peaker plant in Hanford to add 90 megawatts of electricity by September 2001. The project sped through licensing with state and local authorities under Governor Davis and the CEC. Upon completion it will support peak demand and generate about $1 million yearly in local taxes while employing around 100 workers locally. The company plans two more plants by 2002 and notes emissions controls and aquifer recharge.
