Dr L H will present awards and diplomas will be seen by Trustee Emil Ben Two. The eighth grade orchestra and girls glee club perform, and a long list of graduates including Arthur Burton Annis and Joe R Arellano will receive diplomas.

Potatoes Move Slow as Harvest Progresses in Shatter Area
Potatoes continue to move slowly from the Shatter area with 384 cars shipped, season total 845. Despite generally good quality, growers report low yields in several fields and expect later digging to be more productive though overall crop will be far below last year. Prices ranged from 30 to 95 cents with Long White USL at 95 cents to $1 and No 2 around 50 cents while demand stayed strong and prices may rise as harvest advances.

World Drilling Record Set By Superior Oil Company Wagner No 3
Superior Oil Company achieved a world drilling record with Wagner No. 3 in the Shafter field, reaching 10,582 feet in 72 days. The Wagner No. 3 well 38, 28-29 was swabbed in through tubing with production from the Vedder sand, while Bell & Loffland conduct the drilling and preparations proceed to cement casing atop the oil sand at 11,263 feet.

County officials and local supporters met in Shafter to plan a joint fundraising drive for Boy Scout and Y M C A activities. Each group budgets about 300 dollars, funds to be split evenly. Accidental Rifle Shot Wounds 12 Year Old Kelly Grant
Kelly Grant, 12, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. K. Grant, was wounded Saturday when a .22 rifle fired while he hunted rabbits. Doctors report the bullet entered the left chest and exited the shoulder missing the heart by about half an inch. The safety lock is believed jammed during the incident.
