Kern County Fair eyes 1700 animal entries in 1976 event
More than 1700 animals are expected at the Kern County Fair September 24 to October 2. Holger Hansen notes most will be eligible for the Junior Livestock Auction, supporting 4 H, Junior Farmers and FFA youths as an educational boost. Local sponsors funded numerous cash awards across 100 divisions. The fair’s leadership spans Lloyd Hokit James Stockton and a wide committee roster guiding cattle, dairy, swine, sheep and poultry divisions. Maple School to install new well bypassing bid procedure
Maple School trustees approved a new water well as a summer project after the existing well dried up. Warren Carter of Carter Pump Co recommended lowering the holes, a move the board authorized without bidding due to emergency. A special meeting will set final prices. other work includes painting frostless freezer and re rinse sink.

Nominations Open for CP CSD Board Seats in California
Nominations will be accepted until August 18 for five positions on the 15 member board of the Calif Planting Cotton Seed Distributors, a grower nonprofit for seed production and distribution in the San Joaquin Valley. Expiring three year terms include Don Camp, Otis Page, John Gilbert, Bob Wood and Dick Markarian. Balloting runs August 25 to September 9 with about 4 000 eligible growers across Kern Tulare and Fresno counties, board seating at a Bakersfield meeting before the September 29 annual gathering.
