Officials of the United Ginning Company announce a new $130000 cotton gin plant near Shafter will be ready in four to six weeks, in time for this year’s cotton harvest. President E L Green clarified a reporter’s misquote as the project progresses.
Mr and Mrs Vernon Schneider will spend the weekend in Yosemite with Mrs Schneider’s mother Mrs Guy Wolfe and her nephew Johnny Threadgill.
Mr and Mrs R L Adams of Buttonwillow hosted guests at Cambria Pines over the weekend. Attendees included Mr and Mrs Neal Lowe of Woodville Mr and Mrs Barney Beeson of Rosedale and Mr and Mrs Sam Seitz of Bakersfield. A deep sea fishing trip was enjoyed on Saturday. Mrs Adams plans to spend most of the summer at Cambria Pines with her visiting nephew Mr Frederick Buckingham of Woodville.
Jessie McClain returns from a Los Angeles vacation and brings grandson Charles back for a month. Lillie Bell spends a weekend in Corcoran visiting former neighbor C. L. Milano. Lda Payne joins Shafter High School as English dramatics and speech teacher. A fishing party from Rio Bravo and Portland took 35 fish weighing 55 pounds near Avila. Harold Zeeb and family vacation in South Dakota visiting relatives.
Fred Buckingham, brother of Mrs Adams, is engaged in the grocery trade. He and his family are formerly from Ohio.
City of Shafter records show receipts received during the fiscal year ending June 30 1950. Statement filed by City Clerk Frank G Shaw details totals and sources of funds for municipal operations.
Nolene Parish daughter of Mr and Mrs Noel V Parish of Buttonwillow and Marvin Jones son of Mr A H Jones of Los Angeles will marry Aug 6 in Buttonwillow. The ceremony will be led by Rev W H Hughey of the Community Baptist Church. The couple active in church work plan to reside in Buttonwillow after the wedding.
