Shafter High School history and the birth of its Chamber
The piece traces Shafter's push for a local high school beginning in 1929 and the shift from the Shafter Businessmen's Association to the Shafter Chamber of Commerce by 1946. It notes early tension over branch schooling, incorporation of Shafter in 1938, and the chamber's role in promoting the town. Next week’s feature revisits the 1929 Shafter Progress edition.
