Dorothy and John Buller announce their son Norman Buller has been promoted to purchasing agent at L. O. F. Glass Fibre Company in Berbank. He and his wife Joyce Hammer and their infant son reside in Glendale.
Linda M Gloeckler chose July 21 for her marriage to Dr Stuart L Parrish. The 8 00 p m ceremony featured lace decorated gown pink bridesmaids gowns and a cascading rose carnation bouquet. Attendants included Jacqueline Foster maid of honor and Dan C Gloeckler as escort. A church patio reception followed before the couple departed for a secret wedding destination.
Donna Weitz and Jerry Mixon married in a mid-summer ceremony at the First Congregational Church of Bakersfield. The couple, both SHafter High alumni, will reside in Santa Monica where Mixon serves in the Marine Corps and Donna studied at UCLA.
Maple district residents are invited to a public hearing on the proposed Maple School budget for the coming year. Principal Ralph Gribble says the budget, approved by the local school board and county authorities, allows for more school funding without a tax increase due to higher assessed valuation. The hearing is Wednesday evening, August 1 at 8 o'clock.
Sue Howell and James Truman Baker announce their marriage on July 28 at First Baptist Church at 8:00 p.m. with Rev. Melvin Krug officiating. They will reside in Garden Grove California where they have recently leased a new home and Joe Baker is employed.
Family hosts a reunion for Ella Mouser to honor her 86th birthday at Miner Park on July 22. A noon pot-luck dinner followed by social time included numerous Mouser relatives and friends who shared gifts and good cheer.
Mr and Mrs John L Penner hosted relatives at their ranch cabin in the Cuyama Valley on Sunday July 22 harvest time. Guests included John H Voth Henry Froese Dan H Thiessen and families. The day featured worship a chicken dinner and afternoon social activities near the Los Padres National Forest Ranger station.
Ernest Becker and Jack Becker of Los Angeles and Joe Becker of Reedley were honored Sunday at a reunion at Mannel Park. Attendees included families of Reuben Becker Otto Becker Tom Petker Wasco Arnold Bergens Wasco Arnold Bulher J C Reimer C S Ratzlaff and Ed Panters Wasco. An enjoyable afternoon of visiting and a picnic lunch followed.
A party honoring Kenneth Walker on his 15th birthday was hosted by Mrs. W. C. Walker of 533 Prince Lane. Guests, including Jerry Lauderdale and the Carrascos, played ball at Manuel Park before returning home for punch, jello, ice cream, and cake.
Miss Karen Burnquist came home after two and a half weeks with relatives in Bakersfield and other states. She visited Grand Canyon and Colorado Rockies and will start nurse training at Huntington Memorial Hospital on September 11 with classes at Pasadena City College.
Mr. and Mrs. Sam Youngblood and daughter Patsy settle on West Lerdo Road after moving from Whittier. Sam Youngblood becomes Maple School custodian, assisted by bus driver Jake Kliewer. D. R. Gwin retires after long service, helping transition.
