Kern County community representatives met at the Bakersfield fairgrounds to discuss the Kern Wonderland fair September 27 to October 3. Ernie Hofman of Shafter led the meeting with strong turnout and plans to double booth space to 900 square feet and raise premium money by 1000 dollars.

Preliminary drawings for the Shafter High School auditorium and music unit were approved by the Kern County Union High School and Junior College District board. Spud Shipments Near End In Kern District
Volume of potato shipments in Kern District nears season end with carrot shipments dropping from 446 on July 1 to 22 on July 14. Growers call the season relatively good on price but below normal yields and quality, leading to heavy culling and lower net income. Total shipments through July 12, 1954 reached 21,004 vs 28,970 in 1953. Fall planting in the district is expected to start in a week or so.

Campus Christians to Perform at First Baptist Church
Gospel quartet from Providence Bible College will perform at the First Baptist Church on Thursday July 29 at 9 00 PM. The group features Richard Thomassin as song leader Bari tone soloist George Sinkevitch and pianist John. Richard Bennett from Kings Lynn England will speak, sharing seven years of Christian experience since his conversion at Tom Rees Conference Center. The blood drive at Memorial Hall runs 3 30 PM to 7 00 PM with local volunteers and the Shafter Community Blood Fund urging participation to replenish the town blood fund and aid Kern General Hospital.
