Neufeld Succeeds Maxwell in Kern County High Posts

Neufeld was named to succeed Maxwell as district official with testing and counseling duties. He is a East Bakersfield High School graduate, attended Bakersfield College 1951-53, earned an AB at Fresno State, taught in Bakersfield City Schools 1956-63, became counselor in 1961, and later joined Shafter High School faculty. Maxwell, previously at Shafter High, has served as curriculum director and later as district superintendent, with prior work in Rochester New York and Wasco, and involvement in several professional groups. Other changes include Charles Van Blair as counselor and drama coach, Donald St. Clair moving to Foothill High, and William K. Decker resigning.

Obituary of Dr. Gerald Den Hartog of Pella Iowa

Dr. Gerald Tunis Den Hartog, 43, of Pella Iowa died July 1 from injuries after a south Knoxville Iowa auto crash. Born in Pella he studied at Central College Iowa State Minnesota and North Carolina State with PhD postdoctorate work. Shatter Shipments Equal One Fourth Of Area Potatoes

A report shows 21 carloads left the area last Thursday with 5289 from Shatter sheds. Last year 17 621 carloads had gone out with Shatter accounting for 4210, about 25 percent of the total. Trucking accounted for 11 013 shipments in 1965 versus 6 664 last year.

Vernie Parrott Injured After Motorcycle Collision

Vernie Parrott, 16, son of Mr. and Mrs. Parrott, was injured Monday morning when the motorcycle he rode was struck by Beverly Jeanne Martin, 17, of Lost Hills. Parrott received treatment for a slight concussion and abrasions after pulling from a parking lot at the Shafter Motel and failing to see oncoming traffic.
